What to Expect at our Worship Service
WHAT TO EXPECT TO FIND AT OUR WORSHIP SERVICE

We, at Good Shepherd are from a varied ethnic and cultural background. However, we are all of a like mind. We have an ongoing love for our God and great appreciation for what our Savior, Jesus Christ did for us through His death on the cross, where he took our sins upon himself and was crucified. He exited the tomb thereby opening up for us the opportunity to eventually join him in the mansions of heaven to be with him.

Our Worship Service

Every church has its own style of worship, ours is like a back and forth conversation with God, he speaks to us through the Bible and we respond with prayer or song. We hope you will find our style of worship uplifting and beneficial to your spiritual wellbeing.

Each worship service is printed in our service folder, which you will receive from our greeter or usher as you enter our church. Scripture lessons are printed in the folder.

Each service begins with the singing of a hymn and in the name of the Triune God, asking Him to be with us during our worship service. We publically and jointly approach God with the acknowledgement of our sins and ask for and receive forgiveness for them.

Scripture lessons are presented from the Old Testament, the Epistles and the Gospel; each preceded by a short introduction by Pastor VonDeylen placing the relevance of the passages to our service and daily lives.

The sermon is presented by the pastor with uplifting instruction and guidance through the many trying issues facing us today in these difficult times. Sermons are Bible based, as we firmly believe that the Bible is the only true and infallible Word of God and the only help and instruction we can receive to carry us through to our heavenly goal.

We respond to this word with offerings, prayers and praise for the good news we receive from our gracious and loving God that he has and will give us the strength we need.

Throughout these various portions of service are additional prayers and hymns to his glory. Then we gratefully receive His blessings for a safe journey home.

The Offering

When will the offering be taken? How much am I expected to give? Do they expect visitors to give? These are often nagging questions for visitors. Visitors are not expeted to give on offering, our members give in order to support the church to which they belongs. You may wish to learn more of our ministry and service before you bring your offerings to God through our church.

We are taught in the Bible that our gifts to God should reflect our belief that everything we have is from him through his loving kindness. It teaches us that with our offerings we worship and honor him. As these contributions are gifts to God, no one attempts to regulate the amount of the gift of any individual.
